#MustangsWin! Lady Mustangs Advance To Quarterfinals On Historic Night For Seck!

            Conway, Ark. – Hosting an American Midwest Conference game for the first time ever, Central Baptist College women's basketball took on the Trojans of Hannibal-LaGrange University tonight at A.R. Reddin Fieldhouse for a first round matchup. CBC (15-15) never trailed, racing out to a 16-8 lead in the first quarter and cruising to a 63-40 win over HLGU (4-25) to advance to the quarterfinals.

            Aminata Seck made history tonight, breaking the single season points record and recording her 17th double-double. Alexis Augustus also scored in double figures in a game that saw the score tied only once, at 6-6 in the first quarter.

GAME NOTES

  • Seck had 19 points and 13 rebounds, giving her 420 points on the season, passing Karli Kenley's former record of 419 set back in 2012-13 while also extending her rebounding record to 295.
  • Seck also set a new record for made field goals in a season tonight with 169, passing Kenley's record of 168
  • Seck now holds single season records for points, total rebounds, offensive rebounds and made field goals
  • The win was the 11th overall against the Trojans and the eighth in a row
  • CBC is now 11-4 this season when leading at halftime
  • The Lady Mustangs won the rebounding battle 40-34 and forced 23 turnovers while committing only 12
  • The 40 points allowed dropped CBC's points allowed per game to 60.6, the third lowest in a season
  • The Lady Mustangs have now grabbed 1,186 rebounds this season, the third most in a season ever, while their per game average of 42.4 is second all-time
  • CBC won their 15th game for the fourth time in program history and the third straight season in a non-Covid shortened season

            The Lady Mustangs will head to Columbia, Mo., on Wednesday for an AMC Quarterfinal matchup against the second-seeded Cougars of Columbia College for the fourth meeting in five years between the two teams in the AMC tournament.
