#MustangsWin! CBC Defeats Harris-Stowe and Hannibal-LaGrange in St. Louis AMC Pod!

            St. Louis, Mo. – Playing on the road for the first time since the ninth, Central Baptist College volleyball was on the court today at the Emerson Performance Center for a pair of American Midwest Conference matches against Harris-Stowe and Hannibal-LaGrange. CBC (3-10, 2-1 AMC) swept the matches, beating HSSU (4-8, 2-1 AMC) in four sets by scores of 25-21, 12-25, 25-18 and 25-19 before sweeping HLGU (1-5, 0-3) by scores of 25-20, 25-14 and 25-12.

MATCH ONE – CBC 3, HSSU 1

            Avary Smith had 14 kills and a .400 hitting percentage while Madeline Freeman and Adalyn Dura both had double-doubles, with Freeman posting 17 assists and 11 digs while Dura had 15 assists and 11 digs. Ava White led with 13 digs and Kate Scroggins also finished in double figures with 10. The Mustangs had 49 kills and hit .175 with five aces and two blocks compared to the Hornets who hit .132 with 45 kills, seven aces and eight total blocks.

MATCH TWO – CBC 3, HLGU 0

            Smith led the way again in match two with seven kills while Rayssa Maldonado had 12 assists and Yasmine De La Garza led with 11 digs. CBC had 27 kills and hit .159 with 10 service aces (including five by Kate Scroggins) and nine blocks. HLGU had 18 kills and hit in the negatives.

UP NEXT

            The Mustangs are back in state on Tuesday night when they head to Little Rock for a match with Philander Smith. First serve from Mims Gymnasium is scheduled for 6 p.m.
