#MustangWin! CBC Opens 2025 With Decisive Victory Over Crowley's Ridge!

            Conway, Ark. – Playing for the first time in the 2025 calendar year, Central Baptist College women's basketball hosted the Pioneers of Crowley's Ridge College in an American Midwest Conference contest at A.R. Reddin Fieldhouse. CBC (6-5, 4-3 AMC) led after every quarter and defeated CRC (5-7, 1-6 AMC) 89-68.

            Five players finished in double figures scoring for the Lady Mustangs, led by Aliya Grotjohn with 19 points. CBC outshot CRC 47 percent to 37 percent from the field, were plus-11 on the glass and turned 15 Pioneer turnovers into 21 points.

GAME FLOW

            Raigan Head opened the scoring in the contest, canning a three one minute into the game to make it 3-0. The Lady Mustangs would hold the lead until the 6:25 mark when CRC tied the score at nine and they would trail 12-9 with 5:37 to play in the first quarter. A Tamara Christmas layup preceded a basket by CRC to make it 14-11 before a three by Grotjohn tied the score at 14. Another Pioneer layup followed by a Christmas jumper tied the score at 16 and a three by CRC followed to make it 19-16 in favor of the Pioneers. CBC trailed until the 53 second mark when Addison Hudspeth made a jumper to put the Lady Mustangs ahead 27-26 and she followed that up with a three 23 seconds later to make it 30-26 before a CRC three made it 30-29 after a quarter. The Lady Mustangs opened the second quarter on a 10-0 run over the first 3:16 and never saw their lead drop below nine the rest of the contest, leading by as many as 22 (67-45) with 2:01 left in the third.

MUSTANG NOTES

  • Grotjohn led the Lady Mustangs in scoring for the third time this season
  • Hudspeth added 16 points with a team-high four steals and a team-high seven made baskets
  • Head had 15 points and recorded her fifth double-double of the season, grabbing 10 rebounds
  • Riley Whittington added 14 points and had a team-high eight assists
  • Rhys Anderson scored a season-high 12 points
  • Tamara Christmas led the squad in rebounding, grabbing a career-high 13
  • CBC made 12 threes and grabbed 49 rebounds
