#MustangsWin! Women's Basketball Takes Down William Woods on the Road!
Erik Holth, CBC Sports Information Director
Fulton, Mo. – Knowing they are locked into the number eight seed in next week's American Midwest Conference tournament, Central Baptist College women's basketball began their regular-season ending road trip to Missouri for a conference tilt against the William Woods Owls at Anderson Arena. CBC (6-17, 5-12 AMC) led the entire way, jumping out to a 12-point first quarter lead before winning 50-41 over WWU (13-13, 7-10 AMC).
Olivia Lambrigtsen was the lone Lady Mustang in double figures scoring with 20. CBC's first quarter and defense were the story of the game as the Lady Mustangs held WWU to nine made field goals and 18 percent shooting from the floor. CBC also dominated on the glass, outrebounding WWU 47-39 and outscoring them in the paint 22-10.
GAME FLOW
Lambrigtsen opened the scoring with a three 39 seconds in and CBC pushed the pedal down, leading 17-5 after one quarter. An old-fashioned three-point play from Taryanna McNary opened the second quarter and made it 20-5, but points for both teams were hard to come by and CBC led at the break 24-14.
CBC scored the first two baskets of the third quarter to push the lead back up to 14 and kept the lead above 10 until 2:31 left when it dipped to nine. The teams would exchange free throws to end the quarter and the Lady Mustangs led 34-25 after three. Caroline Citty opened the scoring in the fourth with a layup and the lead never dipped below eight again.
