Lady Mustangs Drop Contest To Owls

Erik Holth, CBC Sports Information Director

Conway, Ark. – Returning home after spending last weekend in Missouri, Central Baptist College women's basketball hosted American Midwest Conference foe William Woods tonight inside the friendly confines of A.R. Reddin Fieldhouse. CBC (3-10, 2-6 AMC) trailed by eight at halftime before falling 81-66 to WWU (9-7, 3-4 AMC)

Olivia Lambrigtsen led the way in scoring for the Mustangs, putting in 20 points, including going 9-12 at the charity stripe. Caroline Citty and Taryanna McNary also finished in double figures scoring, with Citty adding 15 and McNary scoring 10 off the bench. CBC did win the rebounding battle 32-31 but couldn't stop the hot shooting of WWU, who scored on 59 percent of their opportunities from the field, compared to just 37 percent for the Lady Mustangs.

GAME FLOW

The teams swapped the lead sevem times inside the first 6:55 of the game. A three from WWU with 3:35 left in the quarter sparked an 8-2 run to finish that and put CBC down 17-12 after a quarter. After WWU made the first basket of the second quarter, a three from Lambrigtsen started a 9-0 run for CBC that gave them a 21-20 lead with 4:26 to play before halftime. 26 seconds later, the lead swapped for the eighth and final time and CBC trailed 33-25 at the break. CBC was able to cut the deficit to five on four separate occasions in the third quarter, but that's as close as they got the rest of the contest.
