CBC Leads For Three Quarters Against William Woods

Conway, Ark. – Looking to rebound from a loss on Tuesday night, Central Baptist College women's basketball hosted the Owls of William Woods University tonight at A.R. Reddin Fieldhouse. CBC (12-12, 4-10 AMC) led for three quarters, but was outscored 22-8 in the fourth to fall 55-48 to William Woods (9-16, 6-9 AMC).
Aminata Seck led the way with 16 points while Alexis Augustus chipped in with 15 off the bench. CBC won the rebounding battle 46-31 but were held to just 31 percent shooting from the field, making just 4-11 at the free-throw line.
GAME FLOW
Neither team led by more than four points in the first quarter and Augustus would send the game to the second quarter tied at 12 after beating the buzzer with a jumper. The game would go back-and-forth early in the second quarter until CBC seized a 20-17 lead on a three by Railyn Shelvin with 5:51 left and would lead the rest of the half, including 28-22 with 32 seconds left and carried a 28-25 lead into halftime. WWU came out and scored the first eight points of the third quarter to take a 33-28 lead before CBC closed the final 6:53 of the third on a 12-0 run to take a 40-33 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, CBC shot 3-16 and William Woods shot 8-12 from the field, with the Mustangs going scoreless over the first 3:36 of the fourth. CBC lost the lead with 5:29 left in the game and wrestled it back on a layup by Caroline Citty to lead 46-44 with 3:20 left. WWU would retake the lead and put the game a way with three pointers on three straight possessions.

- The Lady Mustangs dropped to 10-4 this season when leading at the half
- Augustus moved into fourth place on the all-time scoring list with 804 points, passing Karli Kenley
- Seck grabbed two offensive rebounds in the game to give her 91 on the season, six shy of setting a new single-season record
- Augustus is now 10th all-time in rebounding with 353 in her career
- Seck now has 29 blocked shots on the season, the fifth most in a season all-time
- Augustus made four steals on the evening and now sits at 99 for her career, one shy of becoming the eighth player in program history with 100

- CBC passed the 300 assist mark as a team for just the 10th time
- The Lady Mustangs have 72 blocks so far, seventh most in a single-season
- The 250 steals for CBC this season are also seventh most
