Conway, Ark. – After falling in their season opener on Wednesday night, Central Baptist College women's basketball wraps up their season opening road trip to Montana this weekend at the University of Providence tournament. The Lady Mustangs will play the host school, University of Providence, tonight at 6 p.m. and will play Montana State University Northern tomorrow evening at 5 p.m. in the McLaughlin Center in Great Falls on the UP campus.
GAME NOTES
- CBC is 0-1 on the season
- UP is 4-1 already on the season
- MSU-Northern is 1-0 on the season.
- Both teams have series leads on the Mustangs all-time, with Providence winning the only previous meeting 85-58 back in 2011 and Montana State Northern winning both previous encounters, 68-40 in 2011 and 89-46 in 2016
- Reagan Roetzel led the Mustangs in scoring in the opener with nine points on three three-point field goals
- Diana Rivera, who made her Mustang debut on Wednesday, leads the team in both rebounds and assists with four and five, respectively
- CBC scored 52 points in their opener on 33 percent from the field, 39 percent from three and 94 percent (15-16) at the free throw line while grabbing 20 rebounds and forcing 12 turnovers while committing 21
- UP is led by Emilee Maldonado, who is averaging 16.2 points per game and is one of five Argos in double figures and is also the assist leader, averaging 5.8 per contest
- Parker Esary leads in rebounds, grabbing eight per game
- As a team, UP is averaging 74.6 points per game on 44 percent shooting from the field, 33 percent from three and 67 percent at the free throw line while grabbing 39.8 rebounds per game and committing 14.2 turnovers per game
- On defense, the Argos are allowing 68 points per game on 40 percent shooting from the field, 35 percent from three and 74 percent at the free throw line, allowing 32 rebounds per game and forcing 16 turnovers per game
- MSU-Northern won their opener 75-58 back on Oct. 26
- Two Skylights had double-doubles in that game, L'Tia Lawrence with 24 points and 11 rebounds and Sydney Hovde with 13 points and 10 rebounds
- Morgan Mason had a team-high six assists in the contest
- MSU-N shot 48 percent from the field, 50 percent from three and 56 percent at the free throw line in the contest with 41 rebounds and 14 turnovers and held their opponent to 31 percent shooting from the field and 25 percent from three while they shot 67 percent at the free throw line, grabbed 35 rebounds and only committed 10 turnovers
