Conway, Ark. – Returning home to start their final four-game homestand, Central Baptist College softball hosted the Hornets of Harris-Stowe State in an American Midwest Conference doubleheader this afternoon at City of Colleges Park. CBC (22-18, 10-6 AMC) set a new record for runs in a doubleheader, sweeping HSSU (0-32, 0-16 AMC), winning 30-0 and 23-0 in the two games.
The 53 runs scored in a doubleheader eclipses the previous mark of 50 done on March 3, 2015 against Crowley's Ridge, in a doubleheader that CBC won 31-2 and 19-0. Today, everyone that dressed, played and the Mustangs left no doubt, scoring runs in bunches early.
GAME ONE – CBC 30, HSSU 0 (FIVE INNINGS)
CBC would score nine in the first, nine in the second, seven in the third and five in the fourth to score the second most runs ever in a single game. Victoria Lasker and Mollie Johnson combined for 15 of the 30 runs driven in and CBC pitchers combined to allow only three baserunners the entire game while striking out six.
GAME TWO – CBC 23, HSSU 0 (FIVE INNINGS)
CBC scored in bunches again in game two, posting 10 in the first, seven in the second, two in the third and four in the fourth. Lasker, Johnson and Jordyn Frederic combined for 10 RBIs in the second game while the pitchers allowed only five base runners combined.
