Gulf Shores, Ala. – Having lost the first two games of the Gulf Coast Invitational, Central Baptist College softball was able to salvage a split on the second day of games this past Saturday. CBC (7-9) defeated Xavier of Louisiana 9-3 in the first game before falling to Our Lady of the Lake 12-4 in six innings in the second game.
GAME ONE – CBC 9, XAVIER 3
Jordyn Frederic had two hits, drove in two and scored three runs while Madi Spears and Averie Ayers both had three hits in the win. Ayers added an RBI and two runs scored and CBC also got RBIs from Lauren Anderson (two), Kirstie Blackwood, Tobi Finley, and Savannah Sanford. Alex Jeter started and got the win, scattering 10 hits and allowing three runs (two earned) with two walks and a K in six innings. Emily Cole pitched the seventh and only allowed one hit.
GAME TWO – OLLU 12, CBC 4 (SIX INNINGS)
Ayers had a pair of doubles and a pair of runs scored in the contest. Savannah Sanford had two RBIs, both coming in the third inning after CBC trailed 6-1 after one. Tobi Finley also had two hits in the contest. Hannah Work started and went a complete game, allowing 12 runs (six earned) on 16 hits with two walks and a strikeout as CBC committed six errors during the contest.

The Mustangs are home for the final time in March tomorrow afternoon when they host the Eagles of University of the Ozarks. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. and you can find links to coverage online!
