Conway, Ark. – Playing at home for the second time in three days, Central Baptist College men's basketball hosted the Toppers of Blue Mountain Christian University this afternoon at A.R. Reddin Fieldhouse. CBC (2-0) trailed by one at the half, but outscored BMCU (0-1) 50-31 in the second half for an 86-68 win.

Sage Borbon led six players in double figures scoring while Deshawn Corprew again led the way in rebounding while Borbon again paced the team in assists. The Mustangs shot 57 percent from the floor for the game and 67 percent in the second half to breeze past the Toppers.

GAME FLOW

Borbon opened the game with a layup which was followed by a three from the Toppers. Another Topper field goal made it 5-2 before Wade Williams tied the game at five with his own three and the teams would trade the lead on each of their next two possessions and the score was tied at nine six minutes into the game. A jumper from Borbon with 13:03 left in the first half made it 11-9 and that started a 9-0 run over the next 2:13 to put CBC up 18-9 with 10:50 left in the half. The lead would stretch to 10 three times in the half before the Toppers began a comeback. Leading by six with 2:33 left in the first, the Mustangs saw their lead evaporate as BMCU closed the first half on an 8-1 run to take a 37-36 lead into halftime.

The Toppers would hold the lead for the first 7:14 of the second half until a pair of Borbon free throws tied the score at 57 with 12:46 left in the game. The teams would trade layups on their next possessions before a layup by Kyle Harding with 11:06 left put CBC up 61-59 and the Mustangs would never allow BMCU to get closer than three the rest of the contest, closing the game on a 25-9 run.
