Conway, Ark. – Looking to move one step closer to clinching a home game in the upcoming American Midwest Conference quarterfinals, Central Baptist College men's basketball hosted the Lyon Scots this evening on Senior Night at A.R. Reddin Fieldhouse. CBC (17-9, 9-5 AMC) fought back from down eight early, shooting 55 percent in the second half to down Lyon (8-14, 4-10 AMC) 88-80.

Brevin Brimble, TaJuan Johnson, James Moore, Gabe Johnson, Jalen Adams and Braylon Steen were all honored as the six seniors on the roster before the game. Brimble led five players in double figures with 17 points while the Johnsons both added 15, Moore added 12 and notched his fifth career double-double with 10 rebounds, and Steen added 10. The field goal percentages were even at 52 percent, but CBC was plus six at the free throw line, forced 19 turnovers (while only committing eight) and scored 58 points in the paint compared to just 38 for Lyon.

GAME FLOW

The scoring was slow to start, with neither team recording a field goal for the first two minutes and 18 seconds until Lyon hit a three to open the scoring. Brimble opened the scoring for CBC to make it 3-2 at 17:23 before Lyon went on an 11-4 run to lead 14-6 with 14:44 left until Brimble began a 16-2 run to put CBC ahead 22-16. Lyon would come back to tie the game at 34 with 2:46 left in the first half before the Scots retook a 36-34 lead with 2:01 left in the half. A dunk from Moore and a layup from Brimble made it 38-36 with 1:25 left in the half. Following Lyon tying the score at 38 again, Brimble made it 41-38 with a three and sent CBC into the locker room.

The teams went back and forth in the second half until a jump shot from Jalen Adams made it 50-48 with 15:52 left. Lyon would come back and tie the score at 64 and with 8:14 left in the game a three from Tomas Mikyska made it 67-64 and CBC would not trail again, stretching the lead to 10 at one point before becoming final.
