Erik Holth, CBC Sports Information Director
Conway, Ark. – Playing inside A.R. Reddin Fieldhouse for the final time in 2022, Central Baptist College men's basketball hosted American Midwest Conference rival William Woods this afternoon. CBC (10-4, 4-1 AMC) trailed 22-21 at the half and blitzed WWU (7-5, 2-2 AMC) in the second half to win 65-52.
Three Mustangs finished in double figures scoring and James Moore barely missed out on a double-double, finishing one rebound shy. The key stat was turnovers, of which CBC forced 23 and used them to score 29 points.
GAME FLOW
William Woods raced out to a 13-1 lead over the first 8:43 seconds before Brevin Brimble made the first field goal of the contest for CBC, a three, at the 11:17 mark to make it 13-4. Over the next 7:16, CBC went on a 14-2 run capped by a layup from Braylon Steen to lead 19-15 with 4:01 left in the first half. WWU made three straight field goals to take the lead back before Jalen Adams put CBC back in front with a jumper to make it 21-20 with 1:02 left. WWU would make a jumper on the ensuing possession and went into halftime carrying the one point lead.
A layup by Moore 12 seconds into the second half gave CBC the lead and they would never trail again, as they scored the first eight points of the second half to lead 29-22 with 18:04 left to play. The Mustangs kept the Owls at bay from there, never allowing them to get closer than five for the rest of the contest.
