Conway, Ark. – Playing the final game of a three-game season opening home stand, Central Baptist College men's basketball hosted the Golden Eagles of John Brown University today inside A.R. Reddin Fieldhouse. CBC (3-0) led by seven at the half and used lockdown defense to defeat JBU (2-2) 70-48.
The win for CBC was the first win ever over JBU. Brevin Brimble led the way with 18 points on six three-pointers while Gabe Johnson added 12 off the bench. James Moore grabbed 13 rebounds in a game that saw CBC own the glass, posting a +9 advantage.
GAME NOTES
- The win was the first ever in 17 games against JBU in a series that dates back to 2004
- CBC shot 43 percent from the field and held John Brown to 36 percent
- CBC made 11 threes compared to six for the Golden Eagles
- The Mustangs were 9-11 at the free throw line while JBU missed both of their attempts
- Bench points played a key role, with CBC getting 25 off the bench while JBU only had 10
- JBU led by nine with 7:46 left in the first half before CBC went on a 15-0 run over the next 6:51 to lead by nine with 55 seconds left in the half and JBU would never get closer than six the rest of the game
