Preview: Mustangs Head To Tennessee For The Show

            Conway, Ark. – Having played in a tournament in Nebraska last weekend, Central Baptist College men's basketball will be back on the road for another tournament this coming weekend when they head to Kingsport, Tenn., for the NAIA Basketball Showcase, aka "The Show". CBC will face Oakland City at 11 a.m., Saturday morning before taking on the West Virginia University Institute of Technology on Sunday at 12:45 p.m. with all games being played at the Meadowview Marriott.

GAME NOTES

  • CBC enters the tournament 1-6 overall
  • The Mustangs and the Mighty Oaks will meet for the third time, with the previous two meetings coming in the NCCAA National Tournament. The all-time series is split 1-1 with OCU winning 75-59 the last time out on March 20, 2009
  • CBC and WVU Tech will meet for the first time
  • The Mustangs are led in scoring by Kelvin Robinson, who is averaging 22.8 points per game this season
  • Three other Mustangs are also in double figures, with Jordan Parker averaging 15.6 per game, Mayan Kiir averaging 12.9 and Jalen Adams putting in 10.4 per game
  • Kiir leads the team in rebounding at 9.6 per contest and Robinson also leads in assists, handing out 3.8 per game
  • CBC is averaging 79.9 points per game on 47 percent from the field, 35 percent from three and 66 percent from the free throw line while grabbing 38.1 rebounds per game and committing 15.4 turnovers per game
  • The Mustangs are allowing 81 points per game on defense, with opponents shooting 45 percent from the field, 36 percent from three and 70 percent at the free throw line while collecting 34.9 rebounds per game and forcing 11.7 turnovers per game
  • Oakland City is 1-4 on the season
  • Nathaniel Schmittler leads three Mighty Oaks in double figures scoring, averaging 14.6 per game
  • Ikechi Ajukwa leads the team in rebounding, grabbing 6.8 per contest
  • Tyler Camplin is the leader in assists, handing out 2.2 per contest
  • OCU is averaging 65.8 points per game on 40 percent shooting from the field, 27 percent from three and 63 percent at the free throw line, grabbing 38.6 rebounds per game and committing 16.2 turnovers per game
  • On defense, the Mighty Oaks allow 71.6 points per game on 48 percent shooting from the field and 20 percent from three while opponents make 63 percent of their free throws, grab 32.8 rebounds per game and are forced into 12.6 turnovers per game
  • West Virginia Tech is 5-2 on the season
  • The Golden Bears are led by Tamon Scruggs, who is one of two players in double figures scoring, averaging 18.7 points per game
  • Scruggs also leads the team in rebounding, grabbing about seven per game
  • Phillip Mullins leads the Golden Bears in assists, handing out 4.8 per game
  • WVU Tech is averaging 79.1 points per game on 46 percent shooting from the field, 33 percent from three and 67 percent at the free throw line, grabbing 35.9 rebounds per game and committing 15.1 turnovers per game
  • The Golden Bears are allowing 72.3 points per game defensively, with opponents shooting 47 percent from the field, 32 percent from three and 65 percent at the free throw line while grabbing 35 rebounds and getting forced into 16.3 turnovers per game
