Walnut Ridge, Ark. – Looking to end the regular season on a high note, Central Baptist College baseball took on the Williams Baptist Eagles this afternoon in a doubleheader at Shell Field. CBC (27-22, 23-13 AMC) split with the Eagles (23-22, 14-18 AMC) again, winning game three 12-4 before dropping the finale 14-8.
GAME THREE – CBC 12, WBU 4
The Mustangs would score five runs in the first inning and lead 5-0 after one. Chett McDaniel brought in the first run with a single, followed immediately by a two-run double by Jaxon Kirkhuff and a two-run home run by Aaron Prince. CBC stretched the lead to 8-0 in the second on an RBI double by Brayden Mayencourt and a two-run homer by George Astacio. WBU scored their first run in the second before a sac fly from Ryan Dauphinee made it 9-1 in the third. Single runs in the fourth and fifth trimmed the lead to 9-3 before another Kirkhuff double made it 10-3. WBU scored their final run in the sixth and a two-run double by Dauphinee in the seventh rounded out the scoring. Josh Albat was the winner, throwing six innings and allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits with three Ks. Jackson Pope allowed one hit and struck out one in the seventh.
GAME FOUR – WBU 14, CBC 8
Kirkhuff started the scoring in game two with another double to make it 1-0 in the second. The Eagles would tie the game in the bottom half before CBC retook the lead in the third on a single by Garrett Fitts and a two-run double by Astacio to make it 4-1 in the third. WBU would score four times in the bottom half to lead 5-4 after three. Brennan Duhe would tie the game in the fourth with his first home run of the season before WBU scored seven in the bottom half to take a 12-5 lead. A Duhe single in the fifth made it 12-6 and a single from Astacio made it 12-7 in the sixth. The Eagles scored twice in the sixth to double the deficit before a double by Fitts in the seventh brought the score final.
