Mustangs Split With Bobcats in Final Non-Conference Doubleheader

North Little Rock, Ark. – Hosting a non-American Midwest Conference opponent for the final time this season, Central Baptist College played a matinee doubleheader this afternoon against the College of the Ozarks Bobcats. CBC (21-16) split with C of O (16-18), taking game one 13-2 before losing game two 16-4 to drop the season series 3-1.
GAME ONE – CBC 13, C OF O 2
Brayden Mayencourt singled with two outs in the first and scored in front of a two-run home run by Ryan Dauphinee, his sixth of the year to make it 2-0 after one. Dauphinee came up again with two on in the third and roped a double to right field that scored George Astacio and made it 3-0. Chett McDaniel would then single home Dauphinee and Mayencourt in the ensuing at bat and the score was 5-0 after three innings. CBC would score two more in the fourth on an RBI single by Astacio that chased home pinch runner Carter Harris and a successful double steal that saw Garrett Fitts swipe second and Astacio score on the throw. The final six runs would score in the fifth, which began with Ayden Qualls being hit by a pitch, a pair of wild pitches and then an RBI single by Aaron Prince that chased home courtesy runner Julian Rodriguez. Following a double play, Cameron Harden would single and move to third on a double by Astacio. Fitts would follow with a two-run single of his own, and after stealing second, he would score on a double by Mayencourt. Following an intentional walk to Dauphinee, McDaniel brought in the final two runs with a triple to right field. Hunter Belton earned his first win as a Mustang, throwing five shutout innings, allowing just four hits while striking out seven. Brennan Duhe pitched the final two innings, surrendering two runs on four hits with a walk and a pair of strikeouts.
GAME TWO – C OF O 16, CBC 4
The Mustangs jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first on a fielder's choice off the bat of Dauphinee. The Bobcats would then score two in the second and one in the third to put CBC down 3-1, but the Mustangs came back to tie the score at three on a double by Dauphinee that scored Mayencourt and a single by Duhe that scored Dauphinee. CBC was stuck on three until the sixth inning, when Astacio reached on an error that brought home Aaron Prince. In between the third and fourth runs for the Mustangs, C of O scored three in the fourth and seven in the fifth then finished the scoring with three more in the seventh.
