#MustangsWin! CBC Evens Record With Run-Rule Win Over WBU!

Erik Holth, CBC Sports Information Director

North Little Rock, Ark. – Opening their final home series of the season this afternoon, Central Baptist College baseball took on the Eagles of Williams Baptist University in an American Midwest Conference game today at DeSalvo Memorial Field at Burns Park. CBC (22-22, 7-9 AMC) put the game away early and got great pitching to beat WBU (20-23, 5-11 AMC) 11-1.

Andrew Killough started on the hill and got his fourth win of the season, allowing just two hits and four walks with a run while striking out four in 4.2 innings. Justin Raines picked up his second save of the year, pitching the final 2.1 innings and allowing just one hit while striking out one.

GAME FLOW

After Jay French started the game with a single and a stolen base, Steven Stewart scored him with an RBI single to make it 1-0. Logan Easterling would then double to score Stewart and make it 2-0 before Gabe Walker drove in the third and final run of the first inning with a double of his own to make it 3-0 after one. The Mustangs would add three more in the second thanks to an error and a steal of home by French to make it 6-0 after two. The only trouble Killough got into was four straight walks, chasing home the lone Eagle run in the fifth before Raines got the next batter to fly out. Prior to the four straight walks, he had retired 13 straight batters. CBC finished the run rule by scoring five in the sixth thanks to a fielder's choice, a hit by pitch to Wille Baez, a two-run fielder's choice off the bat of Gabe Walker and an RBI single from Graham Dykes.
