#MustangsWin! First Triple-Double Helps Lead Mustangs Past Eutectics!

St. Louis, Mo. – Playing on the road in the American Midwest Conference for the first time this season, Central Baptist College volleyball was at UHSP Gymnasium tonight for a tilt with the Eutectics of the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis. CBC (3-11, 1-3 AMC) dominated the match and had a historic effort from Madeline Freeman to sweep UHSP (6-16, 0-5 AMC) by scores of 25-23, 25-13 and 25-19.
Freeman recorded the first triple-double in program history tonight, notching 13 kills, 14 assists and 10 digs. Kenzie Hanks led the way in attacking for the Mustangs, posting 18 kills and a hitting percentage of .517. Mikayla Lawrence and Kylah Shumate were the co-leaders in digs with 13 each while Mallory Gossett and Freeman both had 10. CBC had a big night hitting, collecting 48 kills and posting a season-best .304 hitting percentage while holding UHSP to 26 kills and just a .103 hitting percentage.
Set one saw the lead change hands twice, with CBC leading by as many six at three different points. UHSP would cut the lead to one before Lawrence sealed the first set with a kill to give CBC a 1-0 advantage. The Mustangs raced out to a 5-1 lead in set two and never trailed the entire set, seeing it tied only once at 5-5. CBC closed the set in strong fashion, winning seven of the final eight rallies, closing the set on a service error by UHSP. CBC raced out quickly again in set three, leading by as many as nine and never trailing.
