Point Lookout, Mo. – Opening their season this afternoon, Central Baptist College volleyball was on the court at the Keeter Center taking on Sterling College and Baptist Bible College on the first day of the College of the Ozarks Tournament. CBC (1-1) split on the first day, losing to Sterling (1-1) 3-0 in the first match before beating BBC (0-2) 3-1 in the second match.
Madeline Freeman had a double-double in both matches, one coming with kills and assists and one coming with assists and digs. Kenzie Hanks led CBC in kills in the win over Baptist Bible, setting a new career-high in the process.
MATCH ONE – STERLING 3, CBC 0
Freeman's 13-kill, 13-assist double-double was not enough to stop Sterling, as CBC fell in straight sets 17-25, 25-27 and 22-25. Hanks also had double digit kills in the match with 11 while Molly Murphy led in assists with 17 and Mikayla Lawrence led the way in digs with 13. Freeman barely missed a triple-double, also recording eight digs. CBC had 40 kills and hit .182 but SC hit .237 and had seven aces with three errors on the serve compared to CBC's three and nine.
MATCH TWO – CBC 3, BBC 1
Hank's 17 kills were enough to guide CBC past Baptist Bible in match two by scores of 26-24, 17-25, 25-19 and 25-19. Caitlyn Miller added 13 kills and hit .375 while Freeman led the way with 20 assists and had 12 digs for her second double-double and Mikayla Lawrence led the way in digs with 16. The Mustangs had 48 kills and hit .131 in the match while recording 13 aces while BBC had only 34 kills and five aces.

CBC wraps up play in the College of the Ozarks tournament tomorrow. CBC will take on the Eagles of Oklahoma Wesleyan at 11 a.m. before closing out the tournament against the hosts, College of the Ozarks, at 1 p.m.
