Volleyball Closes Season In AMC Quarterfinal
Hannibal, Mo. – Looking to make history tonight in the American Midwest Conference quarterfinals, Central Baptist College volleyball took on the Trojans of Hannibal-LaGrange at the Mabee Sports Complex. CBC (11-16) hit the ball well, but a potent HLGU (15-9) attack for the Mustangs, who lost in four sets to end their season.
Presley Hamric led the way in kills while Molly Murphy led in assists and Riley Straka was the digs leader. CBC had 48 kills and hit .146, but HLGU, who had 47 kills, hit .310 in the match.
MATCH NOTES
- Hamric had 18 kills tonight to get her to 254 on the season which is the fourth highest all-time for a freshman
- Kylee Sabella, the freshman record holder, had nine kills to finish one shy of 300 for the season
- Molly Murphy had 43 assists in the contest, her eighth 40+ assist match this season (a new record) and she finished the season as just the second player ever (Tiffani Cutwright twice) with 800 or more assists in a season (813)
- Straka had a team-best nine digs
- Mikayla Lawrence had eight digs and finished with 473 on the season, the third highest total ever in a season
- The Mustangs finish the season with 1,106 kills, third highest total since joining the NAIA in 2010 while setting a new NAIA era record for kills per set at 11.8
- CBC finished with a .163 hitting percentage, their highest since they hit .171 in 2012
- The Mustangs finished with 1,050 assists, fourth most ever and 11.2 digs per set is the highest total in the NAIA for the program
- The Mustangs dropped to 4-4 in four set matches this season
