Sabella Makes History Despite Volleyball Loss

Conway, Ark. – Entering the night four kills shy of tying the freshman kills record, Kylee Sabella and the Central Baptist College volleyball team hosted the top team in the American Midwest Conference, the #3 Missouri Baptist Spartans, who were riding an 18-match winning streak. CBC (10-15, 3-5 AMC) was swept in the match, but Sabella achieved history late in the contest as MBU (23-2, 8-0 AMC) won their 19th in a row.

Sabella's six kills in the match gave her 283 on the season and pushed her past Emoree Martin for the most kills ever by a freshman. The record breaker came in the third set with CBC trailing 21-14 and was punctuated by a blocking error by the Spartans. The Mustangs also crossed 1,000 kills as a team this season for the third consecutive year and the sixth time in program history.

CBC wraps up the regular season tomorrow when they welcome Harris-Stowe State into Reddin Fieldhouse. First serve is scheduled for noon and senior day festivities for Reaven Seymore will begin at 11:45.
