Mustangs Drop Hard Fought Five-Set Match To Stars

            Columbia, Mo. – Playing an American Midwest Conference match for the second consecutive night, Central Baptist College volleyball was at Silverthorne Arena this evening for a match with the Stars of Stephens College. CBC (9-13, 3-3 AMC) fought hard for five sets, but couldn't get momentum in the final set and lost to SC (11-12, 3-4 AMC).

            Kylee Sabella led the Mustangs in kills while Molly Murphy had another double-double. The key stat in the match was the 16 service errors for the Mustangs on 98 attempts while Stephens also had 12 total blocks on the night.

MATCH NOTES

  • Sabella had 14 kills, putting her at 254 for the season, one behind Alex Simpson for second on the all-time list for freshmen
  • Emily Farmer posted a season-high 12 kills
  • Murphy posted her sixth double-double of the season with 41 assists and 12 digs, with the 41 assists giving her 679 for the season to move into third place on the single-season assist list
  • Mikayla Lawrence led the way in digs with 13 and she had the lone service aces on the night
  • CBC had 46 kills and hit .084 while Stephens had 44 kills and hit .092
  • The Mustangs are now 0-4 in five set matches this season and 2-6 all-time against Stephens
