#MustangsWin! CBC Beats Harris-Stowe For the First Time As An AMC Opponent!

Erik Holth, CBC Sports Information Director

Conway, Ark. – Returning home for the first time in two weeks, Central Baptist College women's soccer hosted the Hornets of Harris-Stowe State in an American Midwest Conference tilt this afternoon at the Centennial Soccer Complex. CBC (6-7-1, 3-2-0 AMC) played great defense and scored a goal in each half, beating HSSU (8-3-1, 2-2 AMC) 2-0.

Amanda Parreiras and Erica Hawkins were the goal scorers for the Mustangs while Parreiras and Vitoria Loiola both had assists. Jayme Selph posted a shutout in net, stopping all six chances the Hornets sent her direction.

Parreiras started the scoring in the third minute, when she lobbed Harris-Stowe's keeper from 35 yards out on a pass from Loiola to make it 1-0 and five her seven goals on the season. CBC would hang on to that margin until halftime. Seven seconds into the second half, Parreiras kicked the ball from the center line and it found the feet of Hawkins for her third goal of the year to make it 2-0. From there, Selph and the defense took over, as she stopped both opportunities in that half and the defense kept HSSU off the scoreboard.
