            Marshall, Texas – Playing their third doubleheader in the span of four days, Central Baptist College softball was at Smith Park today taking on the Wiley Wildcats. CBC (18-14) scored 27 runs in a sweep of WU (5-16), winning 12-1 and 15-3

GAME ONE – CBC 12, WILEY 1 (FIVE INNINGS)

            CBC put two runs on the scoreboard in the second inning on a double by Sydney Weiser and a wild pitch. Three more runs crossed the plate in the third inning on back-to-back-to-back doubles by Kori Truelove, Kinley Johnson and Melanie Phillips. Eden East drove in the sixth run in the fourth inning with the seventh run scoring on an error. The Mustangs rounded out the scoring in the fifth on a two-run single by Taviah Bradley, a two-run single by Phillips and a single by Adrianne Benedict. Ryleigh Keele picked up her seventh win of the season, allowing a hit and striking out four in four innings. Kayla O'Kelley pitched the fifth and gave up a run on three hits with one K.

GAME TWO – CBC 15, WILEY 3 (FIVE INNINGS)

            Wiley got on the board first in the second game, plating two unearned runs to lead 2-0 after one. CBC would tie the game in the second on a single by Kassidy Oberan and a steal of home by Dakota Hobson. The Mustangs would put the game away with six runs in the third thanks to a two-run double by Johnson, a squeeze play by Hobson, a double by Oberan, a single by Casi Saunders and a triple by Taylyn Shuffield. Six more runs crossed the plate in the fourth inning on the second double of the game by Johnson, two stolen bases and an error, a two-run double by Saunders and a wild pitch. Wiley made the score 14-3 in the bottom of the fourth before Johnson drove in her fourth run of the contest with a single in the fifth. Lauren Woodard earned her third win of the season, allowing three hits and two unearned runs in three inning with a pair of strikeouts. Isabella Sawyers finished the contest, allowing a run on a hit with two Ks.

UP NEXT

            The Mustangs return to American Midwest Conference play on Friday when they head to St. Louis for a doubleheader at Harris-Stowe. First pitch from Stars Park is scheduled for 1 p.m.
