Mustangs Drop Into Elimination Bracket In San Antonio

Erik Holth, CBC Sports Information Director

San Antonio, Texas – Playing their first game in the NAIA Opening Round in almost four years, Central Baptist College opened tournament play this morning as the #5 seed taking on the #4 seed Eagles of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University-Prescott at St. Mary's Softball Stadium. CBC (31-26) fell to ERAU (28-11) 2-1 in a pitcher's duel.

CBC had the bases loaded in both the second and fourth innings and couldn't capitalize on the run scoring opportunities. ERAU took the lead in the fifth on a two-run home run and the Mustangs scored on the seventh on an RBI single by Kori Truelove to cut the deficit in half, but they couldn't push the final run across to send the game into extras.

The Mustangs fall into the elimination bracket where they await the loser of the 2/3 game between #19 Middle Georgia State and Eastern Oregon. The elimination game will be tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. at the St. Mary's Softball Stadium.
