#MustangsWin! Softball Opens AMC Tournament With Win Over Stephens!

            Columbia, Mo. – Opening play in the American Midwest Conference tournament this morning, Central Baptist College softball took on the Stephens Stars at the Antimi Softball Complex. CBC (31-20) took care of Stephens (16-29) 5-1 to advance into the winner's bracket.

            Neither team scored in the first two innings before CBC finally broke through in the third, plating runs on a double by Kori Truelove and a single by Lauren Anderson to lead 2-0 after three. A home run by Stephens cut the lead in half in the fourth before Jordyn Frederic brought in a run in the bottom half of the fourth to make it 3-1. In the fifth, Taviah Bradley stepped in and delivered a pinch-hit two-run single to make the score 5-1 and that was all that starter Alex Jeter needed. She threw a complete game two-hitter with three strikeouts and ended the game retiring the last 12 batters she faced.

            CBC will play William Woods tomorrow at noon with a chance to advance to the semifinals of the tournament for the second consecutive season.
