Eight Mustangs Earn AMC Softball All-Conference Honors

            Columbia, Mo. – The American Midwest Conference announced their season awards for softball tonight at the pre-AMC tournament banquet and eight Mustangs were recognized for their achievements on the field. Lauren Anderson and Jordyn Frederic were both selected to the first team while Madeline Bruce, Alex Jeter, Kinley Johnson and Abi West all earned second team honors with Kori Truelove and Hannah Work both earning third team recognition. Sydney Weiser was recognized as the Champion of Character.

            Anderson batted .416 with 10 home runs and 56 RBIs to go with 18 doubles and four triples. She ranked fifth in the AMC in batting average, tied for the conference lead in hits with 62, led the conference in RBIs and finished second in the AMC in slugging while pacing the conference as well in extra base hits with 32. Frederic was just ahead of Anderson, finishing fourth in the conference in batting average at .432. She was also tied for fifth in hits with 57. Bruce was tied for third in the AMC in hits and finished the season batting .385. Jeter tied for second in the AMC in appearances (25) and finished tied for third in wins (13) while leading the conference in innings with 133 and finished with a 3.84 ERA. Johnson finished tied for the conference lead in home runs with 13 as a freshman along with West, who also had 13 home runs. Truelove batted .344 this season with five home runs and 44 RBIs while Work had nine wins and finished in the top 10 in the league in ERA at 3.70. Anderson and West also picked up gold gloves in the field, as Anderson posted a .987 fielding percentage, tops amongst first basemen while West sported a .949 fielding percentage, picking up the award as a utility infielder with nearly as many innings played at third and second base.

            Congratulations to these ladies on their accomplishments! CBC begins their run in the AMC Tournament tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. against Stephens at the Antimi Softball Complex.
