Conway, Ark. – Playing their final doubleheader of the regular season at home, Central Baptist College softball hosted the Eagles of Texas A&M-Texarkana today at City of Colleges Park. CBC (30-20) only scored nine runs on eight hits as they dropped both ends of the doubleheader, 9-2 and 9-7, to TAMUT (22-20).
GAME ONE – TAMUT 9, CBC 2
The Eagles wasted no time scoring, plating five in the first to lead 5-0. Kori Truelove's two-run homer in the bottom half made it 5-2 after one before Texarkana added two in the second and two in the third to wrap up the scoring. Isabella Sawyers and Hannah Work both had scoreless appearances.
GAME TWO – TAMUT 9, CBC 7
The Eagles grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first in game two before Lauren Anderson launched her 11th home run of the season, a two-run blast, to make it 2-1 after one. TAMUT would score two in the second and one in the third to lead 4-2 before Taviah Bradley scored on a wild pitch in the fourth to make it 4-3. TAMUT would then score three in the sixth and two in the seventh to lead 9-3 before CBC scored four in the seventh on a bases loaded walk to Corina Garcia, a two run single by Dakota Hobson and an RBI groundout by Truelove. Sawyers went unscored upon in the circle again in game two.
UP NEXT
CBC opens play in the American Midwest Conference tournament on Tuesday morning when they take on the 7-seed Stars of Stephens College. First pitch from the Antimi Softball Complex in Columbia, Mo., is scheduled for 10 a.m.
