CBC Splits With William Woods

Erik Holth, CBC Sports Information Director

Fulton, Mo. – Coming off a split against the defending American Midwest Conference regular season champions yesterday, Central Baptist College softball was at the Backer Sports Complex today for a doubleheader against the William Woods Owls. CBC (28-18, 12-4 AMC) split with WWU (18-25, 8-9 AMC) winning game one 6-5 before dropping game two 10-0 in five innings.

GAME ONE – CBC 6, WWU 5

The Mustangs scored quickly in game one, tallying three in the first on a two-run double by Lauren Anderson and a fly ball off the bat of Kori Truelove. The Owls would tie the game at three in the third before Caroline Byers launched her second home run of the season, a solo shot, to give CBC the lead in the fourth. Following a scoreless fifth, Taviah Bradley notched a pinch-hit two-run double in the sixth to make it 6-3 and Mallory Reynolds loaded the bases against the Owls in the seventh, but limited the damage to secure the win. Reynolds earned her fifth victory of the season facing all but one batter, scattering 11 hits and five runs with a pair of walks and three Ks.

GAME TWO – WILLIAM WOODS 10, CBC 0 (FIVE INNINGS)

William Woods got a grand slam in the first and added a single run in the second and five in the third for all of their scoring. CBC got hits from Kori Truelove in the second and Jordyn Frederic in the third as two of only five base runners for the Mustangs in the entire game.
