#MustangsWin! CBC Sweeps Crowley's Ridge

            Paragould, Ark. – Stepping out of American Midwest Conference play, Central Baptist College softball was at Pioneer Park today for a doubleheader against the Pioneers of Crowley's Ridge College. CBC (26-16) survived a scared, run-ruling CRC (17-15) 8-0 in game one before coming from behind to win game two 5-4.

GAME ONE – CBC 8, CRC 0 (SIX INNINGS)

            The Mustangs struck for three runs in the first inning when Savannah Sanford cleared the bases with a double to make it 3-0 after one. A passed ball in the fourth inning made it 4-0 and a double from Lauren Anderson, an error and a single by Jordyn Frederic made it 7-0 in the fifth. CBC wrapped the scoring the in sixth with an Anderson double. Hannah Work earned the win, throwing four-and-one-third shutout innings, allowing just four hits with a pair of walks. Isabella Sawyers finished the game, allowing just two walks while striking out two.

GAME TWO – CBC 5, CRC 4

            CBC took the lead early again in game two, this time on a sac fly by Kinley Johnson to make it 1-0. Crowley's Ridge would tie the game in the fourth before Madeline Bruce doubled in the fifth to put the Mustangs back in front 2-1. Three runs crossed the plate for CRC in the fifth to put CBC down 4-2 headed to the sixth, setting up drama in the inning. The first two batters of the inning grounded out before Kori Truelove singled to begin the rally. Sydney Weiser would follow with a single of her own and Anderson came off the bench to launch a three-run home run that put the Mustangs in front before Alex Jeter retired the Pioneers in order to end the game in the seventh. Jeter earned her 12^th win, throwing a complete game and allowing four runs on seven hits with one strikeout.

            The next six games for CBC are all AMC opponents, beginning with Cottey on Friday afternoon. First pitch from Nevada, Mo., is scheduled for 2 p.m.
