#MustangsWin! Softball Moves Winning Streak to 8 With Sweep Over Ecclesia!

Conway, Ark. – Stepping out of American Midwest Conference play for a midweek in-state contest, Central Baptist College softball took on the Royals of Ecclesia College this afternoon at City of Colleges Park. CBC (20-14) run-ruled EC (1-5) in both games, beating them 9-1 in six innings in game one before shutting them out 8-0 in five innings in game two.
GAME ONE – CBC 9, ECCLESIA 1 (SIX INNINGS)
The Mustangs wasted no time putting runs on the board in game one, getting a two-run home run by Abi West, her eighth, in the first inning to make it 2-0. CBC would tack on four in the second thanks to a two-run double by Ysabella Esquivel, a single by Madeline Bruce and a double by West, making the score 6-0 after two innings. Lauren Anderson would hit a solo home run, her fifth, in the third inning to make it 7-0 and West drove in her fourth run of the contest with a fielder's choice in the fourth to make it 8-0. Ecclesia would plate a run on a sac fly in the fifth to snap CBC's scoreless innings streak at 19 and 2/3 before Bruce ended the contest with a sac fly in the sixth. Hannah Work earned the win, throwing five innings and allowing one run on three hits with one strikeout. Isabella Sawyers pitched the final inning, walking a batter and striking out one as well.
GAME TWO – CBC 8, ECCLESIA 0 (FIVE INNINGS)
The Mustangs struck quickly again in game two, plating two in the first on a double by Anderson. CBC would make it 5-0 in the second on a groundout, a single by Bruce and a single by Savannah Sanford. The final three runs crossed the plate in the third on a single by Elizabeth Stoufer, a single by West and a wild pitch. Alex Jeter picked up the win, throwing three innings and allowing just three hits with four strikeouts. Mallory Reynolds pitched the final two innings, allowing just one walk.

The Mustangs welcome American Midwest Conference rival Hannibal-LaGrange to City of Colleges Park on Friday for a doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
