#MustangsWin! CBC Runs Scoreless Innings Streak to 15 in Sweep of Harris-Stowe State!

St. Louis, Mo. – Looking to run their winning streak to six in a row, Central Baptist College softball was at Stars Park today for an American Midwest Conference doubleheader with the Hornets of Harris-Stowe State. CBC (16-14, 4-0 AMC) ran their scoreless innings streak in the circle to 15 straight as they shutout HSSU (0-20, 0-8 AMC) 14-0 and 13-0.
GAME ONE – CBC 14, HSSU 0 (FIVE INNINGS)
CBC scored in every inning, beginning with Abi West's first inning sac fly to make it 1-0. A single by Caroline Byers, back-to-back errors, a single by Madeline Bruce and a single by West made it 6-0 after two innings. In the third, Ysabella Esquivel plated two with a triple and another run scored via an error to make it 9-0 after three. Four more runs scored in the fourth thanks to a single by Madalyn Tubbs, a two-run single by Jordyn Frederic and a single by Esquivel. Kinley Johnson capped the scoring in the fifth with a solo home run, her eighth of the season. Hannah Work, Gracie Keathley and Isabella Sawyers combined for the 28th no-hitter/perfect game in program history, combining for six strikeouts and two walks, with Work earning the victory.
GAME TWO – CBC 13, HSSU 0 (FIVE INNINGS)
CBC broke the seal on the scoring in game two on an error in the first to make it 1-0. In the third inning, the Mustangs scored six on a ground out by Savannah Sanford, a two-run triple by Sydney Weiser, who then stole home plate to make it 5-0 before another error brought in another run before Frederic made it 7-0 with a single. Anna Marie Sternisha made it 9-0 in the fourth with a single before another error made it 10-0 and Isabella Sawyers doubled in a run to make it 11-0. A Madalyn Tubbs double in the fifth made it 12-0 before the final run scored on an error. Alex Jeter, Mallory Reynolds and Olivia Pickard combined for a one-hitter, allowing just one walk while striking out four.
