CBC Splits On Day One In Gulf Shores

            Gulf Shores, Ala. – After seeing Friday's games at the Gulf Coast Invitational rained out, Central Baptist College Mustang softball was at the Gulf Coast Invitational today for two games. CBC (8-8) dropped game one to Lindsey Wilson (4-3) 4-3 before beating Brenau (7-5) 4-1 in game two.

GAME ONE – LINDSEY WILSON 4, CBC 3

            All three of CBC's runs came in the second inning, courtesy of a two-run double by Caroline Byers and an error. Lindsey Wilson picked up a run in the sixth and then posted three straight hits to walkoff the Mustangs in the seventh. Byers had two doubles and drove in two runs in the game while Ysabella Esquivel also had an RBI.

GAME TWO – CBC 4, BRENAU 1

            The Mustangs scored their first run in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Kori Truelove to make it 1-0. A groundout by Truelove made it 2-0 in the third and CBC would score their final two runs in the fourth thanks to a solo home run by Lauren Anderson and an RBI single by Esquivel. Alex Jeter picked up the win, throwing seven innings and allowing no runs on six hits with three strikeouts.

UP NEXT

            CBC wraps up the Gulf Coast Invitational tomorrow in Gulf Shores against Oklahoma Wesleyan and Central Methodist. First pitch against Wesleyan is slated for 9 a.m.
