Conway, Ark. – Playing at City of Colleges Park for the first time this season, Central Baptist College softball hosted the Crusaders of Dallas Christian College in a doubleheader this morning. CBC (6-2) swept both ends run ruling the Crusaders (3-7) in game one before coming back to win game two.

GAME ONE – CBC 9, DALLAS CHRISTIAN 0 (FIVE INNINGS)

The Mustangs jumped on the Crusaders early in game one when Lauren Anderson brought home two with a single to make it 2-0 CBC in the first. Anderson would single in another run to start the third and make it 3-0 before CBC also tacked on runs via a wild pitch, an error and a two-run single from Caroline Byers to make it 7-0 after three. In the fourth, Abi West launched her first home run of the day, a two-run shot, to make it 9-0 and give plenty of support to starting pitcher Hannah Work. Work went the distance for her third win, allowing four hits and a walk while striking out four in her second shutout this season.

GAME TWO – CBC 9, DALLAS CHRISTIAN 5

In the second game, the Crusaders scored twice in the first to take a 2-0 lead thanks to a single and a wild pitch by starter Alex Jeter. CBC would take the lead in the second, however, thanks to Kinley Johnson's two-run home run and an RBI double by Madeline Bruce to make it 3-2 after two. Johnson's second two-run shot of the game in the fourth stretched the lead to 5-2 before the Crusaders came back, scoring three in the fifth off starter Jeter before Ysabella Esquivel came in and closed the door. A Jordyn Frederic double in the fifth put the Mustangs ahead 6-5 and an RBI single by Esquivel and West's second two-run shot of the day rounded out the scoring in the sixth. Esquivel was the winner in relief, allowing just one hit and striking out one in two-and-one-thirds innings.
