Six Mustangs Earn Postseason Honors From The AMC

St. Louis, Mo. – The American Midwest Conference handed out their softball postseason awards today and six Mustangs were amongst the honorees. Kori Truelove was named the AMC Freshman of the Year while Averie Ayers, Katie Smith and Allison Wagle earned first team honors and Jordyn Frederic and Hannah Work earned second team honors.
Truelove batted .398 in 29 games with 24 runs scored, eight doubles, a triple, three home runs and 29 RBIs. She become the third freshman in program history to earn Freshman of the Year honors following Allison Seats in 2018 and Work in 2021.
Ayers had a phenomenal season again in the circle, posting a 12-5 record and a 1.88 ERA in 104 and one-third innings with 11 complete games, four shutouts and 87 strikeouts to go with an opponents' batting average of .218. This is her second straight selection to the first team.
Smith also earned first team honors for the second straight season after batting .364 in 47 games with 44 runs scored, 10 doubles, three triples, two home runs, 32 RBIs, 16 bases on balls and an AMC leading 31 stolen bases, which also set a new single-season program record.
Wagle earned her recognition after batting .410 with 55 hits, 40 runs scored, 14 doubles, two triples, 13 home runs, 46 RBIs and 21 bases on balls. She ranked sixth in the conference in batting average, fifth in runs scored, tied for eighth in hits, tied for seventh in doubles, tied for the conference lead in home runs, third in RBIs, tied for fourth in walks while also ranking fourth in on base percentage and posting a conference leading .836 slugging percentage.
Frederic earned all-conference honors for the first time. She batted .342 in 43 games with 18 runs scored, five doubles, a triple, a home run, and 15 RBIs while playing great defense in the outfield, recording a .947 fielding percentage.
Work was named to the second team for the first time after earning first team honors two years ago. In 21 appearances, she pitched to a record of 11-6 and an ERA of 3.82 also in 104 and one-third innings pitched.
Congratulations to these six on their recognition! The Mustangs open the AMC tournament tomorrow at noon against Williams Baptist.
