Conway, Ark. – Playing their 10th straight game at home, Central Baptist College softball hosted the Buffaloes of Arkansas Baptist College this afternoon in a doubleheader at City of Colleges Park. CBC (18-14) earned two run rule victories over ABC (7-25) shutting them out 8-0 in game one before capitalizing on mistakes to win game two 12-1.

GAME ONE – CBC 8, ABC 0 (FINAL – FIVE INNINGS)

Neither team scored in the first and the Mustangs were finally able to crack the scoreboard in the second on a sac fly by Madeline Bruce. A home run from Allison Wagle made it 2-0 in the third and the home run was her ninth of the season. Back-to-back doubles from Bruce and Averie Ayers in the fourth stretched the lead to 4-0 and the Mustangs were able to end the game early in the fifth on a bunt single and an error off the bat of Savannah Sanford, a double by Heather Hoffman, a double by Maddie Thompson and the walk-off groundout by Madeline Bruce to bring the score final. Hannah Work was the winner, allowing just two hits and two walks with two Ks in her complete game.

GAME TWO – CBC 12, ABC 1 (FINAL – FIVE INNINGS)

Arkansas Baptist struck first in the second game, plating a run in the first to lead 1-0. The Mustangs would tie the game in the bottom of the first on a fielder's choice. CBC took the lead in the second by plating five runs thanks to an error, an RBI single by Jordyn Frederic, a triple by Madeline Bruce, a double by Averie Ayers and a wild pitch to make it 6-1. Kori Truelove made it 8-1 in the fourth with a two run single and then ended the game in the fifth with a grand slam, giving her six RBIs on the game and her first home run in a Mustang uniform. Ayers picked up the win, allowing one run on two hits with a walk and five Ks. Emily Cole pitched the final two innings, striking out two.
