St. Louis, Mo. – Playing for the second time in as many days, Central Baptist College softball took on the Hornets of Harris-Stowe State in an American Midwest Conference doubleheader this afternoon at Stars Park. CBC (11-13, 3-1 AMC) pounded out 37 hits and 43 runs in a sweep of HSSU (4-15, 0-2 AMC), winning 26-2 and 17-2.

Hannah Work, Averie Ayers and Kori Truelove all made history in the doubleheader. Work threw a no-hitter in game one, Ayers had five hits in game one and Truelove had five hits and five RBIs in game two.

GAME ONE – CBC 26, HARRIS-STOWE 2 (FINAL-FIVE INNINGS)

HSSU scored twice in the third to make it 18-2 and CBC added eight in the fourth to bring the score to it's total. Work's no hitter was the 27th in program history and the first of her career and Ayers' five hit game was just the seventh in program history and the first since Jordyn Frederic's last year against University of the Ozarks. Work's two runs allowed were unearned, she also walked two and struck out two. Allison Wagle homered for the eighth time and scored four runs, marking just the 30th time that has happened in program history and Lauren Anderson notched her second homer of the season as well. CBC also had seven doubles in the game, three off the bat of Ayers, marking the seventh time a player has hit at least three doubles in a contest.

CBC scored in each inning of game two, posting single runs in the first, third, fourth and fifth innings while scoring 13 runs in the second. Four players had multi-hit games led by Truelove, who had five hits, the eighth time in program history that has happened, while she also scored three times and drove in five runs, the first time that's happened this season and the 67th time overall. Anderson hit her third home run of the season, a two-run shot in the second. Ayers threw a complete game, allowing just three hits and two runs with a pair of walks and five Ks. The doubleheader wins gave CBC their 14th straight victory over the Hornets since the series began in 2016.
