Harvey Competes In NAIA National Championship

Wichita, Kan. – Following his victory in the American Midwest Conference/Sooner Athletic Conference Championship two weeks ago, Darron Harvey wrestled today in the NAIA National Championship in the heavyweight class. Harvey, who gave CBC a wrestler at nationals for the third straight year, lost two tough matches to eliminate him on the first day of competition.
Harvey's first bout was against the #14 wrestler, Eastern Oregon's Noel Orozco, and the match was close, with Harvey unfortunately unable to score while allowing Orozco to get an escape in the second period and one point for riding time at the end of the match, falling 2-0. In his second bout against Southern Oregon's Antonia Garcia, the match featured Garcia scoring three points in the first period on a takedown and an escape while Harvey was able to get a reversal for two. Harvey tied the match at three with an escape early in the second period and allowed an escape early in the third period to lose the match by a 4-3 score.
That wraps up the wrestling season and the fall sports season for CBC.
