Mustangs Fight Back To Earn Draw With Eagles

Erik Holth, CBC Sports Information Director

Walnut Ridge, Ark. – Heading to the road for the final time this season, Central Baptist College men's soccer was at WBU Field this afternoon for an American Midwest Conference tilt against the Williams Baptist University Eagles. CBC (5-8-4, 1-1-4 AMC) trailed after 60 minutes but got a pair of late goals to draw with WBU (8-3-2, 4-0-2 AMC) 2-2.

Hugh McAuley scored for the fourth time this season while Marcos Pires added his third goal. Daniel Pinkney assisted on both goals and Jasper Gadellaa was able to stop five Eagle attempts on net.

GAME FLOW

The Mustangs trailed 1-0 in 24 minutes after the Eagles scored on a corner kick to take the lead. The score stayed that way until halftime. Out of the break, WBU converted on a penalty kick in the 58th minute to make it 2-0. From there, CBC pressed the Eagles and McAuley finally broke through off Pinkney's assist in the 67th minute to slice the deficit in half. As the Mustangs continued to press offensively, they only allowed two shots on goal in the entire second half. Pires' goal in the 86th minute tied the match at two all and the Eagles missed a chance that was turned away by Gadellaa in the 88th to preserve the fourth draw for CBC.
