Orange City, Iowa – Playing in Iowa for the first time in 10 years, Central Baptist College was at the NWC Soccer Complex this afternoon for a contest against Northwestern College in the Pizza Ranch Classic. CBC (1-3) trailed 3-1 at the half and dropped the match 4-1 to NWC (2-1).
Joe McElhinney scored the first goal of the season for the Mustangs, breaking a scoreless drought of over 200 minutes to start the year, on an assist from Manny Almaraz. The goal, which happened in the 13th minute, knotted the score at one after the Red Raiders scored in the fifth minute to take the early lead. NWC would add goals in the 14th and 18th minutes before halftime and then would put the final goal into the net in the 47th minute.
CBC heads to Sioux Center Iowa tomorrow for the final game of the Pizza Ranch Classic against Dordt. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
