Conway, Ark. – Playing in their final Saturday home match of the season, Central Baptist College men's soccer hosted the Hornets of Harris-Stowe State today in an American Midwest Conference tilt on Senior Day. CBC (8-4-3, 1-2-2 AMC) would lead at halftime, but couldn't keep HSSU (6-4-2, 1-1-2 AMC) off the board in the second half, conceding twice to lose 2-1.
Dereck Strong was the goal scorer for the Mustangs, the first of his career, as he gave CBC the lead just before halftime. Callum Bisset notched his ninth assist on the goal and Ian Gonzalez registered his second as well. The first half was quiet until Strong's goal, which five-holed the HSSU goalkeeper, nestled into the back of the net. The Hornets responded quickly, however, scoring in the 49th and 55th minutes and preventing a single shot on target by CBC in the second half.
Up next for the Mustangs is a trip to St. Louis on Tuesday afternoon for an AMC clash against the Spartans of Missouri Baptist. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
