Almaraz Earns AMC Defensive Player of the Week Honors

St. Louis, Mo. – For the third consecutive week, Central Baptist College men's soccer has had an athlete selected for American Midwest Conference player of the week. Cameron Gordon and Daniel Pinkney have both earned recognition on the offensive side the past two weeks and Manny Almaraz earned defensive player of the week honors this week.
Almaraz, a sophomore, had an outstanding week controlling the back line for the Mustangs. He scored his first goal of the season and second of his career, in what was the game winner against Blue Mountain last Thursday, then pocketed Louisiana Christian's top striker on Saturday in a 3-1 victory over the Wildcats. CBC has allowed just 10 goals on the season through seven games and had a two-match winning streak entering today's match against Bacone.
Almaraz and the Mustangs host Bacone today before beginning the conference slate on Saturday against UHSP.
