Blue Mountain, Miss. – Looking to bounce back from a draw last Thursday, Central Baptist College men's soccer took on the Toppers of Blue Mountain College today at the BMC Sports Complex. CBC (4-1-1) remained unbeaten away from home, leading 2-1 at halftime before winning 3-2 over BMC (2-4).
Daniel Mondragon, Manny Almaraz and Cameron Gordon were the goal scorers for the Mustangs while Callum Bisset, Joe McElhinney and Daniel Pinkney all had assists. CBC dominated the contest, outshooting BMC 14-3 overall and 8-2 on goal.
Mondragon broke the scoreless deadlock when he converted from the penalty spot to make it 1-0 CBC. Seven minutes later, BMC tied it at one before Almaraz headed in a beautiful free kick from Bisset to make it 2-1 in the 24th minute. The score would remain 2-1 until the 75th minute when Gordon got a pass from Pinkney who had received it from McElhinney to make it 3-1 and the Mustangs held on despite a goal in the 84th minute from the Toppers.
Next up for CBC is a visit from Louisiana Christian on Saturday morning. Kickoff from Centennial Soccer Park is slated for 11 a.m.
