Borbon Earns MVP, Carlisle, Williams Also Named To All-Tournament Team

St. Louis, Mo. – The American Midwest Conference announced the men's basketball all-tournament team this morning, and, as the champions, Central Baptist College had three representatives. Sage Borbon was named the Tournament's Most Valuable Player and was joined on the all-tournament team by Jonas Carlisle and Wade Williams.
In the three tournament games, Borbon averaged 16 points per game on 55 percent shooting from the field, 36 percent from three and 85 percent at the free throw line with 13 rebounds and 13 assists. He scored two points in 20 minutes in the opener against UHSP with a rebound and four assists then exploded in the final two games, scoring 20 points with six rebounds and four assists in the semifinals against William Woods and followed that with a career-high 26 points, six rebounds and five assists in the 33 point win over Missouri Baptist in the Championship game.
Carlisle averaged 10 points per game on 48 percent shooting from the field and 55 percent from three while averaging seven rebounds per game and handed out nine assists. In the quarters against UHSP he had nine points, eight boards and three assists. In the semis against William Woods, he had 12 points, including the three-pointer that sent the game into overtime, with five rebounds and one assist and in the title game against MBU, he had 10, eight and five.
Williams led the Mustangs in scoring in the tournament, averaging 18.7 per game on 77 percent shooting from the field and from three with 4.3 rebounds per game and three assists. In his return against UHSP, he scored 22, including a perfect 5-5 from deep, with five rebounds and two assists. Against William Woods, he had 22 points and six rebounds and in the championship game against MBU, he had 12, two and one.
