St. Louis, Mo. – For the first time this season a Central Baptist College men's basketball player has earned American Midwest Conference player of the week recognition. Deshawn Corprew is the first Mustang to earn that honor this season.
Corprew, a senior from Norfolk, Va., averaged 20 points and seven rebounds-per-game this week on 58 percent shooting from the field in leading the Mustangs past both William Woods and Missouri Baptist to improve the team to 17-4 on the season and 7-0 in the AMC. He scored 24 points, including 16 in the second half, on 10-15 from the field and 4-4 on three in a comeback 74-68 win over William Woods on Thursday night and followed that up with a 16 point outing against MBU on Saturday, where he was 5-11 from the field and 4-8 from three while hitting both of his free throws in a 76-66 win. He also grabbed 13 rebounds against MBU on Saturday for his sixth double-double of the season while also adding 2.0 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. Congratulations to Deshawn on this outstanding honor!
Corprew and the Mustangs wrap up a three-game homestand on Thursday night when they welcome the Cougars of Columbia College into Reddin Fieldhouse for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff.
