Erik Holth, CBC Sports Information Director

Conway, Ark. – Back at full strength for the first time in two weeks, Central Baptist College men's basketball hosted the Owls of William Woods tonight in an American Midwest Conference clash inside a packed out A.R. Reddin Fieldhouse. CBC (16-4, 6-0 AMC) trailed by six at the half but used a hot second half and great defensive intensity to win their seventh in a row by a score of 74-68 over WWU (10-7, 2-3 AMC).

Deshawn Corprew led three Mustangs in double figures scoring with Sage Borbon and Kyle Harding also joining him there. Jonas Carlisle paced the team in rebounding as CBC shot 47 percent from the field in the contest including 65 percent in the second half!

GAME FLOW

CBC scored the first three points of the game then got blitzed by a 14-0 Owl run that saw them ahead 14-3 with 13 minutes remaining in the half. With 8:33 left in the first, CBC trailed 23-7 but began to chip away, closing the first half on a 19-9 run to trail 32-26 going into halftime.

The second half saw a battle between WWU and Corprew, as he made the first four shots of the half to put the Mustangs down 36-35 with 15:36 left. A layup from Borbon 19 seconds later put CBC ahead 37-36 and the teams would trade blows for the next seven minutes and 34 seconds before a free throw from Harding tied the score at 50. A layup by Borbon and a jumper from Corprew put the Mustangs up four but WWU fought back and cut the lead to 59-58 with 3:47 left. A layup from Harding stretched the lead back to three and a dagger three from Corprew with 2:53 left made it 64-58 in favor of CBC. Borbon made the lead eight with 2:05 left and then CBC came in clutch at the free throw line, making 9-10 over the final two minutes to stay undefeated in conference play and move the winning streak to seven!
