Columbia, Mo. – Looking for a season sweep, Central Baptist College men's basketball took on the Cougars of Columbia College this afternoon in an American Midwest Conference matchup inside the Arena of Southwell Complex. CBC (15-8, 7-4 AMC), trailed at halftime and never led in the second half, falling to CC (17-6, 9-2 AMC) 71-61.
Gabe Johnson led the way with 15 points for CBC while TaJuan Johnson added 12 off the bench and Braylon Steen had 11. CBC outrebounded Columbia 34-33, forced 12 turnovers and had more points in the paint, but Columbia shot 45 percent from the field (compared to 39 percent for the Mustangs), and were plus eight at the free throw line, making the difference in the contest.
CBC returns home for their next AMC contest on Thursday night when they welcome the Trojans of Hannibal-LaGrange. Tipoff from Reddin Fieldhouse is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
