#MustangsWin! CBC Gets Back In the Win Column Against Williams Baptist!

Conway, Ark. – Looking to bounce back from a loss on Thursday night, Central Baptist College men's basketball hosted the Eagles of Williams Baptist in an American Midwest Conference rivalry game this afternoon at A.R. Reddin Fieldhouse for the first time in the 2023 calendar year. CBC (12-5, 5-2 AMC) held the lead for over 25 minutes and pulled away in the second half beating WBU (7-6, 3-3 AMC) 74-61.
Gabe Johnson led four Mustangs in double figures scoring as he was joined by Braylon Steen, Tomas Mikyska and Jalen Adams. CBC shot over 50 percent from the field, holding WBU to just 37 percent, and dominated on the glass, outrebounding WBU 44-31 while scoring 44 points in the paint to just 16 for the Eagles.
GAME FLOW
Steen scored the first two points of the game on free throws 49 seconds into play and for the first half neither team led by more than five at any point. In the second half, Steen again opened the scoring with a layup at the 17:24 mark to give CBC, who led 40-38 at the half, a 42-38 lead. WBU would fight back to tie the game at 44 with 13:56 left in the game before Mikyska would make a layup at the 13:33 mark to put CBC ahead 46-44 and give them a lead that they would never relinquish. The lead stayed in single digits until 1:49 left in the game when Steen gave CBC a 69-58 lead. The lead stayed above 10 for the duration of the contest.
GAME NOTES
- Johnson had a season-high 16 points and handed out a season-high tying six assists while also grabbing a season-high six rebounds
- Steen posted his second double-double in the last three games with 14 points and 11 rebounds
- Mikyska had 14 off the bench
- Adams scored 10
- CBC moved to 10-2 when leading at the half this season
- The Mustangs are also now 19-14 all-time against WBU and have won five out of the last six in the series and four straight at A.R. Reddin Fieldhouse

The Mustangs step out of American Midwest Conference play on Monday night when they head to the Keeter Center in Point Lookout, Mo., to take on the Bobcats of College of the Ozarks. Tipoff is slated for 5 p.m.
