#MustangsWin! CBC Stays Perfect At Reddin In AMC Play With Win Over William Woods!

            Conway, Ark. – Coming off a thrilling overtime victory on Tuesday night, Central Baptist College men's basketball hosted the Owls of William Woods at Reddin Fieldhouse this evening in an American Midwest Conference clash. CBC (12-13, 8-5 AMC) fought hard, leading at halftime and holding on for a 69-66 win over WWU (15-12, 9-4 AMC).

            Brevin Brimble led three Mustangs in double figures scoring with 23 points while Jordan Parker chipped in with 15 and James Moore added 10. The game featured six ties and 19 lead changes with neither team leading by more than six at any point.

GAME FLOW

            Moore opened the scoring 19 seconds into the game before William Woods took a 3-2 lead on the ensuing possession and the two teams would swap back and forth until WWU took a 22-16 lead with 8:21 left in the first. CBC would respond though with a dunk by Moore, a reverse layup by Jalen Adams and a layup by Blake Bradshaw to tie the game at 22 with 5:15 left in the first. The teams would swap the lead four more times before a three from Brimble with five seconds left put the Mustangs up 34-33 headed to the break. WWU came out with the first basket of the second half to retake the lead and the game went back-and-forth again. William Woods would lead 55-50 with 9:33 left, but CBC would not go away, responding with a layup from Parker and a floater from Brimble to cut the deficit to one. Woods would stretch the lead back to six with 6:04 left in the game, but CBC still would not go away. Braylon Steen put CBC down four with 5:42 left and 1:12 later, Kelvin Robinson canned a pair of free throws to cut the deficit to 63-61. A layup from Parker with 4:19 left tied the score at 63 and Moore's layup with 3:30 left gave the lead to CBC, 65-63, and they would hold on from there, getting a layup from Steen and a jumper from Moore, holding WWU to 0-5 from the floor over the final 1:13 to seal the win!

GAME NOTES

  • The Mustangs evened the all-time series with the Owls at 7-7
  • CBC moved to 9-1 this season when leading at the half
  • The Mustangs are now 6-0 at home in AMC games
  • Moore's two blocks gave the Mustangs 92 on the season, the seventh most in a season
