O'Fallon, Mo. – Having won twice yesterday, Central Baptist College baseball reached the semifinals of the American Midwest Conference tournament today in the winner's bracket against Missouri Baptist. CBC (36-14) dropped into the loser's bracket after falling 4-3 to MBU (38-9-1).

The Mustangs got on the board first with an RBI single by Kevin Gutierrez followed by an RBI single by Luke McBride to take a 2-0 lead in the second. Following a Missouri Baptist run in the third to make it 2-1. A Cade McBride sac fly in the fourth put CBC ahead 3-1, but MBU scored two in the fifth and one in the sixth to take the lead and the offense couldn't respond, despite getting two hits in the ninth. Josh Albat and Jackson Pope pitched in the game with Pope going the final two-and-two-thirds innings, allowing two hits and striking out four.

The Mustangs will look to avoid elimination tomorrow at noon against Williams Baptist.
